Project Senior Designer

Job Description:

Overview: Southtown Engineering & Consulting is seeking an AutoCAD Senior Designer with 4+ years of professional experience using AutoCAD 3D for civil design site work to join our team. The individual in this position can expect to assist in the preparation of land development projects for a variety of clients. Projects may vary from small to large scale single family and multi-family housing, as well as commercial and mixed-use developments. This person should thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a self-starter mentality. We take pride in our work, and in our reputation as a highly successful firm. Responsibilities: Develop engineering designs in AutoCAD Civil 3D to use in the production of construction documents. Understand and use established company standards for drafting Proficient in preparing plan and profile drawings using Civil 3D for (W, WW, Storm, & Dry utilities) Setup and manipulate Civil3D Surfaces. Quantity Takeoffs in Civil 3D • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to complete drawings with minimal supervision. Inform Project Manager of progress on assigned projects and communicate design concerns with project managers. Flexible in work assignments and team assignments Qualifications: Associates Degree or Diploma in Computer-Aided Drafting and Design from an accredited institution of higher education 4 or more years’ experience using AutoCAD 3D for civil design site work. Extremely proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D; candidates without Civil 3D experience will not be considered. Effective communications skills with all levels of employees within an organization, both oral and written skills Effective interpersonal skills with all levels of employees within an organization as well as clients and public agency officials Self-starter Ability to work interdependently within a team environment. Must be flexible to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or daily as changes occur in project needs.

Civil Project Manager/Engineer

Job Description:

Overview: Southtown Engineering & Consulting is seeking a Civil Project Manager/Engineer with 3+ years of professional experience in land development to help design, execute, and manage a diverse project portfolio in Texas. This position oversees a wide array of land development projects and is accountable for delivering various aspects of the project to ensure successful completion and loyal clientele. This position requires clear communication, responsiveness, and precision to ensure work is done astutely and efficiently. Responsibilities: Experience with land development engineering design including detail site layout, grading; drainage system layout and design; utility system layout and design; and erosion and sediment control design and Pond and Best Management Practice (BMP) Design (e.g., detention ponds, water quality ponds, low impact design (LID), etc.) on diverse projects. Experience with drainage design software including StormCAD, SSA, HEC-HMS, and other industry accepted software and development of hydrology studies and pond design. Experience with codes and regulations, interpreting plans, designing stormwater facilities, site grading and permitting for land disturbance. Experience coordinating with review staff before and during project permit reviews to discuss major design issues and clear comments. Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D to address review comments and prepare updates. Works well within a team environment to share technical skills and expertise. Communicate excellently through email, phone, and face to face. Coordinate internal project deliverables in conjunction with internal project workflow. Ensure that reports, plans and other deliverables meet both the company's rigorous standards for quality prior to being submitted to clients or municipalities. Review project deliverables to ensure client satisfaction and quality to avoid errors and omissions. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or related field Three or more years of post-graduation experience in land development Experience and desire to work in open collaborative team environment. Engineer in Training or Professional Engineer license

Civil Engineering Intern

Job Description:

Overview: Southtown Engineering & Consulting is seeking an intern seeking professional experience in land development to support projects in land development planning and design, perform CAD work, and other civil engineering tasks as needed. The individual should thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a self-starter mentality. We take pride in our work, and in our reputation as a highly successful firm. Responsibilities: Design civil engineering projects under the direct supervision of a Professional Engineer Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, and cost estimates for Land Development projects. Perform drafting CAD work. Perform calculations and analysis for design projects. Assist in the preparation of permit applications and other regulatory documents. Coordinate with other team members, including surveyors, architects, and contractors. Attend meetings with clients and regulatory agencies. Qualifications: All Intern Candidates MUST be current students pursuing bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or ABET  accredited equivalent. Interns must have a minimum availability of 16 hours per week to work. Interns may work a maximum of 32 hours per week. Internship Periods shall be approximately 3 months in length. Self-starter and Effective communicator.
